Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Moldova presents for public consultation the preliminary analysis of fiscal governance in Moldova compared to EU requirements and practices and the preliminary assessment of the relevance of establishing a fiscal council to Moldova.
Considering the objective of European integration, Republic of Moldova aims to align to the requirements and good practices of the European Union in various fields, including public finance management.
In this respect, the Ministry of Finance, with advisory support within technical assistance received from the European Commission to improve policies and management of public finances, conducted a preliminary analysis of fiscal governance in Moldova compared to EU requirements and practices, specifically addressed three main issues - fiscal rules, independent fiscal institutions and medium-term budgetary framework. It was also carried out a preliminary assessment of the relevance and possible design of a fiscal council in Moldova.
This activity is the first step of analytical work on these issues, which will be developed in 2016 within in a broad consultation process with relevant stakeholders, in order to provide a more detailed assessment of the situation of the Republic of Moldova, with possible areas of improvement.
