From March 31 to April 3, 2008 a World Bank Mission visited the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Moldova to monitor the Public Financial Management Project activities.

The mission led by Mrs. Svetlana Proskurovska, comprising Mrs. Elena Nikulina and Mr. Cem Dener, had the aim of assessing the implementation of the Public Financial Management Project. The World Bank representatives focused on the progress achieved by the Ministry of Finance in the field of improving budget formulation and execution methodology, the organic law on the budgetary system and the budgetary process and the internal audit, as well as the results on the development of the Financial Management Information System.

During the closing meeting on April 3, 2008, the representatives of the Ministry of Finance, represented by Mrs. Mariana Durlesteanu, the Minister of Finance, and the representatives of the World Bank, represented by Ms. Melanie Marlett have positively assessed the achieved results and discussed the measures of solving the difficulties met as well as the next steps to be undertaken for implementing this project as for ensuring the continuity of the reforms in the Republic of Moldova.
