The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Moldova, together with the World Bank, has launched the Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability assessment exercise. The launch meeting was opened by Ms. Melanie Marlett, World Bank Country Manager for Moldova and Mrs. Nina Lipan, deputy Minister of Finance. This assessment aims at providing information on public financial management system in Moldova and identifying its most challenging areas. The assessment represents a tool for analyzing and supporting the implementation of reforms promoted by the government authorities as well as a reference framework for donors in providing necessary support to the Government of the Republic of Moldova, thus establishing a channel of communication on the continuous consolidation of public financial management system. Representatives of the Parliament, Court of Accounts, National Social Insurance Agency, National Health Insurance Agency, Financial Control and Revision Service, Material Reserves, Public Acquisitions and Humanitarian Aid Agency, donor communities and other entities involved in PEFA assessment have participated at the launch meeting. The assessment will be carried out on April 7-18, 2008 by a group of international individual experts; the final report is to be submitted in the month of June of the current year.
